Healthy Start Coalition will celebrate their 30th anniversary supporting healthy pregnancies, babies and families in Pinellas County to ensure they have the best start in life!  Since their inception in 1992, infant mortality in Florida declined 34%.

The Coalition will host their Annual Meeting to share their successes, thank community partners, honor a Healthy Start Hero, welcome a Family Spotlight on one of our clients, and hear from Keynote Speaker, Yamel Belen, RN, CLC, Doula/Owner One Love Doula Services, and President of the Tampa Bay Birth Network.

Executive Director Mary Jo Plews says, “Healthy Start Coalition is addressing health disparities* through our doula care program and we’re seeing positive birth and postpartum outcomes such as fewer low birthweight babies, preterm births, C-Sections.  Imagine what it would be like if we add just 10 more doulas!  Every year it could mean that 55 more babies born healthy, 53 fewer C-section births, and a whopping savings of $1.8 million every year for Pinellas County alone!”

Registered guests may participate in our opportunity drawing for great items like gift cards to your favorite restaurants and stay-cation hotels. All proceeds benefit our programs and services for expectant and new families.
